In the early 19th century, football was generally played by foreigners in Turkey. All the teams in Izmir were founded by Greeks, Armenians, and the British. Panionios and Apollon were teams that dominated football in Izmir as well as in other cities. In 1912, 6 young Turkish boys from Karsiyaka, started to play football on an empty plot with the football they bought by collecting money.
The young people one day decided to establish their own club as a movement to oppose the dominance in the football field, and on November 1, 1912, Karşıyaka Muaresei Bedeniye Club, which is today's Karşıyaka Sports Club they established.

Karşıyaka gets its flag. Red and Green.
Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's interest in Karsiyaka comes from the National Struggle period. Ataturk, who visited Karsiyaka Sports Club on every visit he made to İzmir, also watched the training of football and tennis teams many times. He himself gave the order to use the crescent and star on the club's coat of arms. Karsiyaka is the first club Ataturk visited as the President of the young Republic of Turkey. The articles in the diary that he signed during his two visits to the club are also below.
In these writings, he writes the following notes in the notebook: "The youth I met at Karşıyaka Sports Club is worthy of pride. In the face of this youth, the strong happiness of the future seems obvious."

Probably the oldest club in Turkey marks its 110th anniversary.
This November marks the 110th year anniversary of Karsiyaka Sports Club. To emphasize this impressive date and celebrate Karsiyaka's special relationship with Ataturk the "110 logo" was designed.

"A meander or meandros is a decorative border constructed from a continuous line, shaped into a repeated motif."
Brand new kits reflecting its deep roots in the Aegean region are designed with the traditional use of the meander motif. This motif was used throughout the centuries and dates way back to the Roman and Greek civilizations. The name "meander" recalls the twisting and turning path of the Maeander River which is located in Asia Minor.
